About us

Hi, I’m Xenia—the hands behind Miss Macrebel.

A Little Backstory

I thought I’d hit rock bottom… but looking back, it was actually where everything changed.

Three years ago, I realized the choices I had made—the life I had built—felt empty. I was stuck in sadness, uncertainty, and a version of myself that no longer felt like me. I didn’t know the way forward, only that I had to find one. Nothing external could fix it. The change had to come from me.

While working on a project at work one day, I stumbled across Wabi Sabi interior design. It was warm, simple… peaceful. And in that world of soft tones and imperfect spaces, something caught my eye—beautiful macramé wall hangings.  That small spark of curiosity led me to learn more.

At first, macramé was just a distraction. A way to keep my hands busy while my mind wandered. But slowly, something shifted. Through macramé, I found a way to heal and reconnect with myself. It taught me to slow down, listen inward, and follow what feels right—even if it looks nothing like the “rules” I used to live by.

Why Miss Macrebel?

The name Macrebel is a blend of macramé and rebel—a nod to my little rebellion against the life path I thought I had to follow. Instead of sticking to what was expected, I chose to create something of my own.

I added Miss at the front because I wanted my brand to carry a sense of warmth and nurturing feminine energy. It reflects the care and intention I pour into my craft—and the feeling I hope you receive when one of these pieces finds its way to you.

That’s how Miss Macrebel began. I started crafting pieces by hand using 100% recycled cotton—creations that carry beauty, intention, and a bit of soul. I turned this into a small business, not because I have it all figured out (far from it), but because I finally found something that feels like me.

My motto?

“Follow the rules only if they make sense.”

Don’t get me wrong—I’m a fan of rules… most of the time. But I won’t follow the ones that feel foolish or don’t align with who I am. I’m aware of the risks and willing to take them, because the cost of not standing up for myself—or staying stuck—is so much worse. That mindset flows through everything I make and share.

If you’re into creating too, I offer a digital Koma Bag Mindful Macramé Pattern Guide. Alongside clear step-by-step instructions, you’ll find affirmations and mindful practices woven into each stage—gentle reminders to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the process (not just the end result).

I hope these pieces and guides become more than just objects or projects. I hope they become rituals. Pockets of peace. Something that feels uniquely yours.

Warmly & Gratefully,

MM
