About Miss Macrebel
More than macramé. A mission to build confidence through creativity.
About us
Hi, I'm Xenia—the founder of Miss Macrebel.
A Little Backstory
I thought I'd hit rock bottom... but looking back, it was actually where everything changed.
Four years ago, I realised the life I had built no longer felt like me. I felt lost, stuck, and knew something had to change. I didn't know what the answer was—only that it had to come from within.
One day at work, while researching a project, I stumbled across Wabi Sabi interior design. Its warmth, simplicity and calm instantly drew me in. Then I noticed something that completely caught my attention: beautiful macramé wall hangings.
Curiosity led me to try it for myself.
At first, macramé was simply a way to keep my hands busy. But little by little, it became so much more. It helped me slow down, reconnect with myself and rebuild my confidence. It taught me to trust my intuition and follow what felt right—even if it looked nothing like the "rules" I used to live by.
Today, Miss Macrebel has grown far beyond handmade bags.
It has become a community, a place where women come together to create, slow down and discover they're capable of far more than they ever imagined.
Whether it's through a workshop, an online tutorial or one of our Licensed Hosts around the world, my mission has always remained the same:
To help women realise they're more capable than they think they are.
Because it has never really been about making bags.
The bags are simply the vehicle.
The real transformation happens when someone walks into a workshop saying,
"I'm not creative."
...and walks out proudly holding something they never believed they could make.
That moment changes something.
Confidence grows.
Self-belief grows.
And that's what Miss Macrebel is really about.
Why Miss Macrebel?
The name Macrebel is a blend of macramé and rebel—a nod to my little rebellion against the life path I thought I had to follow.
It's a reminder that you don't have to follow the path everyone expects of you.
Adding Miss gave the brand the warmth, femininity and elegance I always wanted it to embody.
Together, Miss Macrebel represents creativity, confidence and doing things your own way.
My Mission
I don't simply want to teach people how to knot rope.
I want to create experiences that remind women what they're capable of.
Whether someone leaves with a handmade bag, starts a new hobby, hosts their first workshop or builds a creative business through the Licensed Host Programme, I hope they leave believing in themselves a little more than when they arrived.
Because if creating one bag can change the way someone sees themselves...
Imagine what else they're capable of.
My motto?
“Follow the rules only if they make sense.”
I've never believed in following a path simply because it's expected.
Miss Macrebel exists because I chose to trust my intuition, take risks and build something that felt aligned with who I wanted to become.
I hope this brand gives others permission to do the same.
Thank you for being here.
Warmly & Gratefully,
Xenia
